[ when they'd been children, chuck had pressed his face into mako's fur because it was the only thing that made sense. that felt right. they ran together until they were exhausted, and then just kept on going. but no one told them things would be different when they were older, and mako calls and calls and it isn't like before. it isn't the way they ran before. it feels like too many years ago with a father and a mother who shared a skin once and pull on him in both directions.
